Choosing Bells for Holiday Crafts: Sizes, Shapes and Pack Counts

A bell can be a small finishing detail on an ornament or the main feature of a wreath. Before choosing a style, decide where it will hang, how much room you have, and how many finished pieces you want to make. Then compare the size and quantity of the exact option you plan to order.

Our Holiday Craft Bells collection brings together options for these projects. Here is a practical way to narrow the choice.

Start with the finished project

For a small ornament, gift decoration or place-setting accent, start by looking at smaller bells. For a wreath or garland, decide whether you want a series of small accents or a few more visible focal points. Lay out a paper outline at the listed bell dimensions before ordering; a size that looks modest on a screen may take up more room than expected.

Include the hanging loop, ribbon and surrounding greenery in your layout. Check both height and diameter where the product lists them, and make sure the support can carry the finished decoration. If you are making several matching pieces, try one complete arrangement before assembling the rest.

Compare four useful options

Option Verified size and pack Project idea
Mini brass bells in assorted designs Approximately 0.8 inches high; set of 12 Small ornaments and gift decorations
Small tin bells 1.25 inches high by 0.75 inches diameter; dozen pack Repeated accents across several decorations
Round-top tin bells 2 inches high; set of 12 A consistent rounded shape for wreaths and garlands
Cone-shaped tin bells 2.5 inches high; dozen pack A longer outline for hanging arrangements

These project ideas are starting points, not fit guarantees. Check the selected option on each product page for its current dimensions, pack quantity and availability.

Choose the shape and finish together

A rounded top and a cone shape create different outlines even when their heights are similar. Compare the shape with the ribbon, greenery or other materials you are using. The round-top tin bells have a weathered, rustic appearance; a brass option gives you another material and visual direction to work with.

Keep the material and the finish separate when reading an option. A silver-colored or nickel finish does not mean the bell is solid silver. Some styles offer more than one finish, but the available choices can differ by size and pack. Select the exact combination before adding it to your cart.

Count bells rather than packs

Pack size matters as much as bell size. If you are making eight decorations with three bells each, you need 24 bells. Two dozen packs provide that quantity; add extra only if you want spares or plan to experiment with the design.

Do not assume every option on a product page uses the same pack quantity. For example, the cone-shaped tin bell listing includes both dozen packs and single-bell options. A cart quantity of two can mean two bells or two packs, depending on the selected option.

Make room for the sound

If you want the bell to ring when the decoration moves, leave room for its ringer and body to move freely. Tight ribbon, glue or surrounding materials can interfere with that movement. Assemble one sample and check how it hangs and sounds before repeating the design.

If a particular tone or volume is important, ask us about the specific style. Product size alone is not enough to promise a particular sound.

Check the details before you order

  • Confirm the dimensions of the selected option.
  • Multiply the number of finished pieces by the bells needed for each.
  • Check whether the option is one bell or a pack.
  • Confirm the finish and current availability.
  • Allow time to test one sample before completing the project.
